Desktop version worked for some time with default settings, and I think it got broken after some of the updates. Metro UI version is native 64-bit, but some people don't like it (for me For reasons unknown desktop version of IE 11 is 32-bit only so obviously it can get into some troubles in 64-bit environment. Honestly I think that its all about 32-64-bit confusion. Similar issue on other versions of Windows and other versions of IE may be resolved by methods that I tried in my first post. This workaround is for 64-bit only, Windows 8.1 圆4 and IE11. This will require a restart of your PC, as you can see there. Or you can go to Internet Options, Advanced tab and in Security section check "enable 64-bit processes for Enhanced Protected Mode" (see the screenshot below). Restart IE and issue will be gone, but you'll get that pop-up message that IE is not in Protected Mode any more, which may make you feel not so comfortable.Ģ.
